Induction Timetable for September 2020

Week 1: Monday 7th – Friday 11th September

Based on our experience, and particularly this year as children have missed a lot of time in their pre-school settings, we are offering a staggered induction for the children that start with us.  The purpose of the induction process is to enable the children to settle well and quickly, feeling secure in the new routines and procedures.

Induction in September will begin on Monday 7th. Home visits (or virtual meetings if we are unable to make home visits) will take place in the mornings during this week. Please can you sign up for a day and time of your choice. The meetings will take no longer than 20 minutes, you can book an appointment at: 9am, 9.30am, 10am, 10.30am, 11am or 11.30am. These meetings are an opportunity for you to get to know Mrs Armstrong and Mrs Lucas and ask any questions that you may have and for us to get to know your child a bit more.

In the same afternoon as your home visit / virtual meeting, we would like to invite you and your child to come to school from 1.30pm – 3pm to spend some time in the classroom setting. Up to 6 children and one of their parents will be able to join us every afternoon.

Unfortunately, due to lack of space and current restrictions, we are unable to accommodate younger siblings in these sessions.

It is important that we ensure that all children settle into school in their own way and at their own pace. Some children will be able to cope with full time education straight away and some will need to attend on a part time basis for a little longer.

Children must be able to cope with full time education. If they get tired, parents will be encouraged to take their child out of school for an agreed number of afternoons (not mornings, as this is when the majority of children are more ready to learn).

Please talk to your child’s class teacher in order to ensure that together, we make your child’s entry into full time education as smooth as possible.

Please note that these plans are accurate at the time of writing, however they are subject to change should the COVID-19 situation alter.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us at adminoffice@manor.hants.sch.uk should you have any immediate questions or concerns.
